Stories about the ancestors and life seen “en rose” are told in songs and narratives with a double tempo.

The Trinidadians battle in stick fights called “kalinda”. The struggle spans time and is transfigured in the XXth century into “extempo wars” more musical and less violent.

The ‘steelpan’, a new instrument arrived on the scene, revolutionized the island’s music and gave identity to a new musical genre, CALYPSO.
