At the end of the 50’s, young rich Brazilians sang about the local legends in smooth textured music with an intimacy feeling.
In the popular districts of Rio, Samba and Jazz blended with a drop of classical music to form a new sweet and soft genre: Bossa Nova.
Newly acquired democracy and progress in Brazil, at the time, promised a better future and the smooth rhythms of the genre were part of the period. In Cannes in 1959, the film, Orfeu Negro won the “Palme D’or” and the soundtrack started a huge “new musical wave”: Bossa Nova.
