New York / Cuba

With raging rhythm, this spicy sauce travelled from Cuba to New York City, passing through Porto Rico and the Venezuelan coast.

The Cubans, as well as the tourists, danced on the Cuban Son. And in the XXth century, to Mambo and Chachacha. But the party didn’t last long; and when Fidel Castro took power in the 60’s, many fled to the United States, travelling with their lively rhythms.

In New York, particularly in the Barrios, a new mix appeared; and with the influence of Jazz and Rock, Salsa was born.
